BDS: Data and innovation opening new possibilites

Bright Books

BDS is pleased to work with Bright Books to provide basic electronic records for its foreign language material.

When you have received a collection from Bright Books it will have an associated reference number. Click on the link below and you will be taken to a page where you can enter your collections unique code and download a basic set of electronic records that can be temporarily used alongside you library catalogue to track the foreign language material within this collection. When the collection is returned you can readily delete the file and download any further data for collections from this site. Material will be added regularly.

This is what Janet Hollins of Worcestershire ACS Libraries and Learning had this to say when she first used the service: “I've just tried downloading records for one box of Russian books we have here, using the new BDS Bright Books Record Supply Service. We have about 30 boxes of books waiting to be catalogued, which I was intending to make a start on next week. Now, all I need to do is find the Order Number for each set of books and download the records. This will save me many days' work. Thank you very much for getting together to provide such a useful service.”

In instances where a library has been in possession of a collection for some time before this service began to operate, you may find the data you require is not available through the BDS interface. Simply contact Bright Books on 01706 641617 or . Bright Books will then forward the information you require to BDS and it will be made available through this site within 48 hours.
